Bioinks Celluid AM

Alginate is a natural polymer extracted from seaweed that can form a hydrogel when it reacts with calcium ions (Ca2+). It is widely used as a biocompatible and low-toxicity material in medical applications due to its ability to adjust mechanical properties based on the concentration of calcium ions.

Clecell produces ALMA (Alginate methacrylol) which includes a photoinitiator, allowing for the formation of three-dimensional structures under UV exposure. Clecell's product, Celluid AM, is a freeze-dried sponge-like material that can be adjusted to the desired concentration by the user and includes a separate package of photoinitiator. Currently, Clecell is conducting research on various artificial tissues such as bone, cartilage, skin, blood vessels, and nerves using Celluid AM. It is recommended to combine Celluid AM with GelMA, another product from Clecell, to enhance cell attachment and adhesion efficiency.

Clecell’s Celluid Special Features

  • 01
    Bioink in freeze-dried solid form
    • Easy to use and store as a sponge-type bioink rather than a solution type bioink
    • Long-term storage available (up to 6 months when frozen)
  • 02
Bioinks optimized for our 3D bioprinters (UV + enzymatic crosslinking available)
    • When performing UV crosslinking of GELMA, if you induce crosslinking by spraying enzyme (transglutaminase) using the nebulizer of our 3D bioprinter, you can quickly induce cross-linking even if you add a small amount of photoinitiator (crosslinker, irgacure2595) (a substance that causes cytotoxicity), and you can realize output with morphologically stable and low cytotoxicity.
    • When high elasticity outputs such as hard tissues (ligaments, cartilage, bone) are required, enzymatic (transglutaminase) crosslinking can be induced in GELMA with the same amount of photoinitiator as UV cross-linking alone.
    • Fast cross-linking (less than 180 sec)
  • 03
    Customized Bioink
    • User can adjust the viscosity of the bioink to suit their application, and mix and match with other bioinks or culture supplement
    • Can be used by researchers using other 3D bioprinters or not using 3D bioprinters
    • Can be made from soft to hard tissue
      Viscosity >100 cPs: soft tissue
      (vessel, skin, nerve)
      Viscosity 300~500 cPs: hard tissue
      (convex, ligament, bone)
